SNL's "My Drunk Boyfriend" Is Spot On

Saturday Night Live returned for the first time in the new year with host Sam Rockwell, and man, did this episode deliver. All the sketches had laughs, but the most fantastic was the "My Drunk Boyfriend" commercial. Rockwell and Kyle Mooney both serve as the drunken boyfriend models, spouting phrases like "Cops. I want to watch Cops." and sobbing about deceased relatives you didn't know previously existed. It's a spot on take of drunk cliches and an absolute delight.

SNL has been wildly inconsistent all season, but if this is an indication of what's to come, 2018 is gonna be a good year.

SNL's "Papyrus" Sketch Is Pure Magic

Saturday Night Live kicked off its 42nd season Saturday, and boy, did it deliver the goods. Ryan Gosling served as host and delivered a handful of memorable sketches, though one struck me as particularly delightful. I won't spoil the details, but Gosling as an obsessive graphic designer (or at least someone with an appreciation for graphic design) is terrific.

Perhaps it's because my company just underwent a rebrand and I got a glimpse of all the craziness that goes into design work. Perhaps it's the idea that someone could be so passionate about a movie poster that's nearly a decade old. Or perhaps it's just a really funny sketch. Whatever it is, it's a winner. Enjoy!

Dave Chappelle Delivers One of the Best Opening Monologues in SNL History

Having Dave Chappelle handle the opening monologue for Saturday Night Live seems like a bit of a gamble, particularly when the episode he's hosting is the first one in a world where we know Donald Trump is going to be our next President. But while you never know what Chappelle is going to say, you know it's going to be poignant. That was certainly the case on Saturday night, and his monologue is well worth watching. Let's get more monologues like this, please, SNL.

This SNL Sketch Is Just Too Funny

Benedict Cumberbatch hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend, and while many of the sketches were uneven, this one cracked me up. Cumberbatch plays a college professor who gets a little too enamored with Chad, the delightfully ignorant character Pete Davidson plays. Chad has made an appearance in SNL once before, as Julia Louis-Dreyfus' pool boy, but he's even better here, despite having an even more limited vocabulary. The juxtaposition of the two characters is wonderful, and makes for a delightfully entertaining few minutes. Enjoy!

Late Night with Seth Meyers Debuts Cut SNL Sketch With Andy Samberg

Sometimes entire Saturday Night Live sketches revolve around the same joke being driven into the ground, ad nauseum.

As a former SNL alum, Seth Meyers knows this, yet it didn't stop him from inviting Andy Samberg to perform a cut sketch from 2006 that features Samberg repeating the same line about "hitting the head" at a work party. The sketch, called "Wanna Come With?" features Kenan Thompson and Greta Gerwig.

And yet, despite literally being the same joke over and over again, Samberg's delivery, plus his 2006-era hair, is worth the price of admission. That price? Zero dollars, because this is a YouTube video. Enjoy.

Kylo Ren Goes Undercover On SNL

Saturday Night Live came back for its first episode of 2016 last night, and while the start was pre-empted by football (let's learn how to defend a Hail Mary, okay NFL?), there were still some quality sketches. One was a pre-recorded parody of Undercover Boss, with host Adam Driver portraying Kylo Ren, his character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Check out the clip above, and see if being a dark overlord is all its cracked up to be. Will the minions figure out radar technician "Matt" is really their boss? Let's find out!

SNL's Santa Baby Sketch Is Delightfully Weird

Ryan Gosling hosted the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live, and starred in a delightfully strange digital short with Vanessa Bayer called "Santa Baby."

In the sketch, the two play a couple who really, REALLY, like Santa Clause. They won't let anyone leave the party until they get to meet him. And when they do...well, it's quite special. Enjoy!

Behind The Scenes Screen Tests From The New Star Wars Movie Debut On "Saturday Night Live"

To put it politely, Saturday Night Live has been super uneven this season. But occasionally we'll see flashes of brilliance, and this Star Wars sketch is no exception. Anytime the cast members get to showcase their parody skills, it's a win win. The highlights are probably Jay Pharoah as Chris Tucker and Bobby Moynihan as Danny Devito, but good laughs all around. Well done, SNL.

SNL Remakes Bambi With 100 Percent More Badassery

Disney has recently been on a tear of remaking old animated classics into live-action feature films. So it's only fitting that their next foray would be Bambi. And thanks to SNL, the deer is after vengeance for the death of his mother. Join Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Taran Killam as Vin Diesel, Jay Pharaoh as Tyrese Gibson and Cecily Strong as Michelle Rodriguez, as they take on those dastardly hunters once and for all. It's time to get bucked.

SNL: Say What You Wanna Say

Remember that Sara Bareilles song "Brave" that was in like every commercial ever a few years back? If not, the above clip will quickly remind you about it. The ladies of Saturday Night Live actually say what's on their mind, rather than worrying about being polite or friendly. Wish we could all be so brave.

SNL Imagines Bushwick, Brooklyn in 2015, Now Overrun With Hipsters

Kevin Hart hosted SNL this past weekend. And the normally game actor was...well, game for anything. One of the highlights of the episode was a sketch with Hart, Jay Pharoah and Kenan Thompson, where they're hanging out on Bushwick in Brooklyn. Each story seems like it'll have a violent or misogynistic ending, but then there's a lil' bourgeois twist thrown in. Well done, writers. Well done.

SNL Delivers Hilarious Church Skit Just In Time For The Holidays

As is often the case, Saturday Night Live has been real hit or miss this year. Even supposed "instant classics", like Martin Freeman starring in "The Hobbit Office" I haven't found particularly funny.

But when SNL hits, it's an absolute home run.

The latest is a local church advertisement, rolling out a Christmas Mass Spectacular. Having gone to church regularly, this is so spot on. The out-of-tune organist, the pastor making quiet jokes, the various parishioners...it's just incredible. Enjoy.

Bobby Moynihan Plays Aging Princess Leia In Star Wars Spoof

Saturday Night Live has been especially hit or miss lately, but man, the hits are just glorious. Check out this fake trailer for The Force Awakens, combining the new crew with the old school. The original cast, having aged quite a bit since the first Star Wars movies, is not quite their once agile selves. Good stuff all around, but Bobby Moynihan really steals the scene as an elderly Princess Leia.

SNL's Swiftamine Explains The Phenomenon Of Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift, also known as T-Swizzle or That Girl Who Breaks Up With Every Boy, is an interesting dichotomy. Folks either love her or hate that they love her. I'm probably in the latter group. Saturday Night Live aired a sketch that just might explain why. Dr. David Doctor tells us that in the last month, Taylor Swift is the leading cause of vertigo, and with Swiftamine, you can get the help you deserve.

Nasim Pedrad as Aziz Ansari Is Creepily Spot-On

Nasim Pedrad appeared on Conan O'Brien recently, and it was revealed that during her time at Saturday Night Live, the actress regularly pitched for her Aziz Ansari impression to make the show. Alas, it never did, but Team Coco had a treat for us: a scene from a sketch where Pedrad did, in fact, portray Ansari. Not only does she look startlingly like him, the voice is quite impressive, too. And you know this sketch would have been a lot funnier than one of the 74 game shows SNL trotted out last season.

Lonely Island is Back At It

Andy Samberg hosted the season finale of SNL's 39th season, and while the episode was chock full of old friends, you knew a digital short was in store. Fortunately, it was digital short of The Lonely Island variety, and while "Hugs" is not their best work by any stretch of the imagination, it's good to see Andy, Jorma and Kiv in one place. Enjoy.

SNL Presents The Beygency

Ever feel like your opinion, especially when it's in the minority, is never really respected? This is how I feel whenever I mention that I'm not the biggest Beyonce fan. Sure, I like some of her songs, but a lot of 'em are overrated. The new album in particular, from what I've been exposed to, has left me feeling like that song from Frozen, and the movie itself--underwhelmed.

Well, the good folks at Saturday Night Live have made a movie trailer about an agency that "takes care" of people like me. It's called The Beygency, and if you ever find yourself talking ill of the Queen B, well, you may just find yourself in a lot of trouble. Look out.

SNL Parodies Wes Anderson Films, And It's Genius

Saturday Night Live was surprisingly on point last night--aside from a Miley Cyrus appearance or two, host Edward Norton did a solid job, and musical guest Janelle Monae was compelling enough that I actually watched both performances in their entirety, something I almost never do.

But the best sketch of the night was a pre-recorded parody of Wes Anderson's films, most notably Moonrise Kingdom. My favorite line was the New York Times saying "You had me at Wes Anderson" in their review, though it's all good. Kick it!

What Would The World Be Like If Football Coaches Coached Soccer Instead?

NBC tries to answer that very question with a hilarious skit featuring Jason Sudeikis as football coach Ted Lasso. But when he attempts to coach the Tottenham Hotspur F.C., a fĂștbol team, he realizes there's quite a few differences between the two sports. And while this idea is pretty ridiculous, it's well executed with a lot of funny jokes. Best part for me? When Lasso realizes there are draws and no playoffs, and asks "Why do we even do this?" This sketch was done to promote the Premier League beginning on NBC, but more importantly, it's a great reminder that the NFL season is just a few short weeks away!

The Lumineers' "Ho Hey" Just Got a Lot More Entertaining

A few months ago, "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers was the hottest song around. Apparently someone made a mashup of that song, featuring Will Ferrell's Harry Caray impersonation. And it is gold. Turning an already good song into a fantastic one, even if this whole premise is incredibly stupid.
