Ranking the Pokemon: #93- Venomoth

I always enjoyed coming across Venomoths in Pokemon Blue, and I think that was mostly because they were super easy to kill but also at a high level, so I got some decent experience. Of course, most of the computer opponents in any Pokemon game are easy to kill, so I can't put a lot of credence into that as far as determining Venomoth's worth.

What I can say, though, is that Venomoth learns some pretty useful moves, and works decently well as an annoyer. It can pick up Stun Spore and Sleep Powder naturally, and then can also learn other bothersome moves like Double Team and Reflect via TM. Obviously you'd need an attack, too, and the naturally learned Psychic works just fine--after all, if you can have the most powerful attack of the most powerful type in the game, you'd probably want to take it, right? So movewise, Venomoth's awesome.

Stat-wise, its not terrible, with solid Speed and Special, but its HP and Defense are a little iffy, and it's also Bug/Poison, which are the two worst types in the game. Ground, Fire, etc. will absolutely destroy Mothy (as would they destroy a moth in real life), but with its good Speed you can hopefully get off an attack, either paralyzing them or putting them to sleep (which would then result in more chances to attack).

Venomoth is also part of a conspiracy theory that the sprites of it and Butterfree were switched. I don't know if that's true or not, but I can definitely see where they get the idea from, and who doesn't love a good conspiracy? Bonus points for that.
